Summary
In a letter to his publisher Allen & Unwin, Tolkien addresses the queries from the head reader regarding the proofs of The Two Towers. Tolkien expresses his gratitude and astonishment at the reader's meticulous attention to detail and the story's idiom. He notes that he has accepted nearly all of the suggested changes, including the replacement of "tobacco" with "pipe-weed".
