Summary
In this brief letter Tolkien extends an invitation to Hugh Brogan, expressing his willingness to meet up with him. Tolkien compares Brogan's visit to "returning to the Shire", suggesting it might feel nostalgic yet disappointing. He notes that while a few friends remain in Old Marston and Old Headington, there is little hope of rallying them.
