Summary
Tolkien informed Scott of the agreement with Ace Books to pay him a 4% royalty on sales of their unauthorized edition of The Lord of the Rings until they were sold out. He said that his relations with Ace Books were now 'amicable'. He also indicated that he believed this agreement would not have been possible without the campaign that Scott had run.
