Clovers
Clovers were a family of flowering plants. Cockscomb, purple, and white honey-smelling clovers grew at the edge of Beorn's bee-pastures.
Portrayal in adaptations
1984-1997: Middle-earth Role Playing
The books describe two types of clover:
Bitterlove (S. Dolgened, Q. Nullacenië) was a type of four-leaved clover, with small pink flowers. Its fresh leaves could be boiled to produce a sensory-enhancing steam, which allowed both Elves and Men to see as well in the dark as Dwarves could. Dwarves, however, would have their vision reduced.
Black Clover (S. Mornast, Q. Mornasto) was a rare and dangerous clover in the higher valley of Lebennin. Its pollen gave a burning sensation to the lungs, followed by coughing and vomiting. The Drúedain used it in a poison paste.
