Daeron, Op. 45 (Flute and Piano)
The romance for flute and piano Daeron, by composer Paul Corfield Godfrey, was written in the late 1980s as a ‘spin-off’ from the work on his cycle of operatic works Epic Scenes from The Silmarillion after the mythology of J. R. R. Tolkien, which was then proceeding apace.
Sections of this work would later be used in orchestral form as the prelude to Scene Four and Interlude before Scene Five of Beren and Lúthien, Op. 47 (Opera).
Recording
A recording of this work was included on Prima Facie's 2017 album Akallabêth and other Tolkien works.
