Cottar was the progenitor of the Cotton Family.
History
Cottar was born in , and had two sons: Cotman and Carl. Cotman married Rose, the daughter of Holman the greenhanded.
Etymology
In Middle English cottar means "cotter, cottager" (Old English cot "cottage").
