dû (or dú is a Sindarin noun meaning "nightfall", "late evening", "night", or "dimness".
Etymology
From OS dogme, PQ *doȝmi, root DOȜ; and/or OS *doume, from PQ dōmi from related root DÔ.
It is also associated with ndû.
