Ereb

ereb (pl. erib) means lonely or isolated in Sindarin.

Etymology

From the Root ER plus the adjectival ending -eb.

It's also possible that it derives from Old Sindarin full word *eripa and this from Primitive Elvish *erikwâ

  • Bar Erib = "Home of the Lonely Ones"
  • Erebor = "Lonely Mountain"
