Loa

A loa (or löa, plural löar) was a name used by the Elves for a single year; also called a coranar. 144 löar amounted a single yén, an Elvish 'long-year'.

Etymology

The word was used especially in the north-western portions of the Westlands and (in contrast to the "astronomical" coranar) took into consideration (as the Elves generally did) the seasonal changes in vegetation.
