Prince of Ithilien
The Prince of Ithilien was a title granted to Faramir, the Steward of Gondor, by Aragorn Elessar, the King of Gondor and Arnor, after the War of the Ring.
After the War of the Ring the Prince of Ithilien was the greatest noble in Gondor after the Prince of Dol Amroth. In his capacity as the Steward of Gondor, the Prince of Ithilien was the chief counsellor of the Great Council of Gondor. When the King of Gondor was absent, the Prince of Ithilien or the Prince of Dol Amroth acted as the military commander at home in Gondor.
The Prince of Ithilien lived in the hills of Emyn Arnen and held the title of Lord of Emyn Arnen. He was guarded by the White Company who was also based in Emyn Arnen.
During the restoration of the realm of Gondor after the War of the Ring, the Prince of Ithilien was the march-warden of the main eastward outpost of Gondor. In that period his duties included clearing Ithilien of outlaws, remnants of Orcs and the dreadful Morgul Vale as well as rehabilitating the land.
