- Ulmo sends a last warning to Gondolin, which now alone is left; but King Turgon vowed to have no alliance with any son of Fëanor after the kinslaying in Doriath.
- Maeglin is captured by the Orcs in the hills and brought to Angband. After Morgoth promises Maeglin the lordship of Gondolin and the possession of Idril, he betrays the Hidden City to the Dark Lord.
