Third Age 2850

  • Gandalf again enters Dol Guldur, and discovers that its master is indeed Sauron, who is gathering all the Rings and seeking for news of the One, and of Isildur's Heir. He finds King Thráin II and receives the key of Erebor, but doesn't know who the Dwarf was as he had forgotten his own name.
  • Death of King Thráin II in Dol Guldur. Loss of the Ring of Thrór.
  • Around that time Thorin II Oakenshield, son of Thráin II, becomes the King of Durin's Folk.</ref>
