Carta 55a

Summary

In a letter to his son Christopher, Tolkien apologizes for the delay in correspondence, attributing it to the busy start of the term. He expresses his constant thoughts and prayers for Christopher, and his eagerness to know his son's location. Tolkien mentions his challenges in organizing Cadet Exams and describes a brief visit to the White Horse with Charles Williams and the Lewis brothers, where C.S. Lewis recounted a humorous anecdote about an open-air preacher.

Tolkien also plans to send an airgraph with general news, hoping it will reach Christopher faster than his recent letter (see Letter 55). He concludes the letter with affectionate words and assurances of his prayers and love.
