Summary

Tolkien reported to Christopher about various every day affairs, including meetings with C.S. Lewis, Charles Williams and R.B. McCallum. He had found some time to work on The Lord of the Rings, and had come near the end of Book IV. He wished Christopher was with him to perform the useful and pleasant work of completing the maps and typing.

In the expanded edition
The beginning sentence shows that Tolkien spent the most of his Sunday writing, then had a trip to Carmel.
