Woodhall
Woodhall was a village in the Eastfarthing of the Shire within the woods of Woody End. Frodo, Sam, and Pippin met Gildor Inglorion and his people on the road near the Woody End above Woodhall, and the three passed close by the village on the last stages of their journey to Bucklebury Ferry.
Etymology
According to David Salo the name means "hall in a wood", representing a possible Old Hobbitish Wuduheall. The latter element (see: haugh) means "recess, a piece of land half-enclosed by slopes or wood" is also seen in "Deephallow".
