Éomund (Captain of the Éothéod)

Éomund was the high ranking captain of the Éothéod.

History

In Third Age 2510, he rode with his lord Eorl the Young to the aid of the Gondorians in the Battle of the Field of Celebrant. After the victory there against the Balchoth, Éomund witnessed the Oath Eorl vowed to Cirion, the Steward of Gondor, and helped organise the newly founded Rohan.

Etymology

The first element, eoh, is a frequently used Old English translation of genuine Rohanese logo-, "(war)horse". The second element means "protection, protector".
