Halfred of Overhill
Halfred Gamgee was a Hobbit of the Shire.
History
Halfred was the youngest son of Roper Gamgee. He settled in Overhill, and had one son, Halfast, who worked for the local Boffins.
Etymology
The name comes from Old English healfrēad "half-red, reddish" or from healfrǣd "half counsel".
