1965 BBC Interview
1965 BBC Interview is a recorded interview with J.R.R. Tolkien on January 20, 1965, to be placed in the BBC's Recorded Programmes Permanent Library. The interview comprises a detailed discussion about The Lord of the Rings and whether Tolkien will be remembered for his fiction or his academic career.

- Publication: An extract was released on The Spoken Word: British Writers. Another extract, where Tolkien discusses the grammar of the word 'Dwarves', was published in The Annotated Hobbit: Revised and Expanded Edition, page 27.
As a trial for this interview, Denys Gueroult had already made an informal recording of Tolkien in 1964 (see 1964 BBC Interview).
