Captain of the King’s Ships

Captain of the King's Ships or simply Captain of Ships was a title that was held by Vëantur during the reign of the King of Númenor Tar-Elendil.

Vëantur was the first Númenórean to achieve the sea-voyage back to Middle-earth on his ship Entulessë (the Quenya word for "return") in Second Age 600 during the reign of Tar-Elendil. His grandson Tar-Aldarion founded the Guild of Venturers in Númenor and became known as the Great Captain.
