Aravorn (Third Age 2497 - Third Age 2654, died aged 157) was the ninth Chieftain of the Dúnedain.
History
Aravorn succeeded his father, Aragost, when he died in Third Age 2588. Aravorn's rule seems to be uneventful as the enemy centered a lot of its attacks on the newly-formed Rohan.
Aravorn died in 2654, after having ruled as chieftain for 66 years, and was succeeded by his son, Arahad II.
Etymology
Aravorn is a Sindarin name. Its meaning is not glossed, but the Association Tolkiendil suggests it means "Black King". It is probably a compound of the prefix ar(a)- ("noble", "royal", "high") and morn ("black", "dark", "night") or born ("[stead]fast").
