Faramir Took I was the thirty-third Thain of the Shire, the twentieth of the Took line.

History

Faramir was the son of Thain Peregrin Took I and Diamond of Long Cleeve. He was named after Faramir, the Prince of Ithilien in Gondor far South, a good friend of his father. In he married Goldilocks Gardner, the third daughter of Samwise Gamgee. He succeeded his father when Peregrin relocated to Gondor in .

Etymology

Faramir I was named after Faramir, who Pippin Took, Faramir I's father, saved from being burnt to death alongside his despairing father, Denethor, during the Siege of Gondor.
