Mr. Mouse

Mr. Mouse is the name Celebrimbor gave to a mouse that was a part of an illusion crafted by Sauron, who was then under the guise of Annatar. Mr. Mouse was invented by Amazon Studios for the seventh episode in season two of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, where he was portrayed by a mouse named Peachy.

Characteristics

Mr. Mouse appears to be a golden mouse (Ochrotomys nuttalli) with blonde coloring.

History

Mr. Mouse appeared as part of an illusion created by Sauron so that Celebrimbor would continue to forge the Nine Rings during the Sack of Eregion. Seeing a gem was missing from Fëanor's hammer, Celembrimbor knelt down to look for the missing jewel and saw a mouse on the floor beneath his workbench, whom he greeted.

Celebrimbor when he successfully demonstrates to Annatar that Mr. Mouse is, in fact, an illusory mouse.

Celebrimbor later grew wise in this illusion and noticed that Mr. Mouse would arrive at an appointed time of day and follow the same path each time. Recognizing that he was stuck in a mind prison, Celebrimbor confronted Annatar and caused him to reveal that he was indeed Sauron.
