Terry Pratchett

Sir Terence David John Pratchett, CBE (28 April 1948 - 12 March 2015), more commonly just simply known as Terry Pratchett, was an English author who primarily wrote fantasy fiction. His comic fantasy book series Discworld frequently parodies, or takes inspiration from, J.R.R. Tolkien.

On 22 November 1967, before the start of his writer's career, Pratchett sent a letter to Tolkien, where he praised Smith of Wootton Major and expressed his hope to see The Silmarillion in the near future, later receiving a warm reply.
