Carta 11

Summary

This letter is concerned with the publication of The Hobbit. Tolkien had received the reduced prints of the illustrations he sent in Letter 9 and offered his approval. He thanked Dagnall for taking so much trouble with them, "especially against economics", and drew their attention to a few minor errors.

In the expanded edition
At the start of the letter Tolkien shows gratitude to the Production Department for their work, and approves their selection of illustrations. And at the end he looks forward to meeting Miss Dagnall and he would've answered the letter sooner if he had the time.
