Summary
Tolkien described his vacation to Italy with Priscilla. They went to Assisi and Venice. In Assisi, they visited the Basilica di Santa Chiara during the Feast of Santa Chiara on August 11, then in Venice, they attended Verdi's Rigoletto. The first performance was, unfortunately, cancelled due to rain, but on their last day in Venice, they saw another.
