Carta 222f

Summary

Tolkien indicated that he had been going through domestic troubles and that he was giving as much time as he could to the books he was working on. He said the payment from Unwin had cheered him up some. He also said that sales of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit were much of the income that he was living on and that meant that he had "more than artistic" interest in their sale.
