Summary
Tolkien and his wife had attended a performance of the musical revue At the Drop of Another Hat and he wrote to Swann to say that he had "enjoyed it more than anything for years". He said that Swann should advertise the performance as a cure from lumbago. He indicated he also wished to thank the lyricist Michael Flanders but did not have his address and asked Swann could pass his gratitude along.
