Frank Frazetta

Frank Frazetta was an American comic artist and illustrator who explored science fiction and fantasy themes. Frazetta started his career as a comic strip artist in the 1940s and worked on the comic strip Li'l Abner while working at Al Capp's studio. He would go on to transition to creating illustrations for popular culture in the 1960s to include creating several illustrations for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit in the 1970s with his illustration of Éowyn vs the Witch-King being the most famous. Frazetta also would work with director Ralph Bakshi as a producer for the rotoscoped sequences in Bakshi's animated movie Fire and Ice, a technology used for Baskhi's 1978 animated adaptation of The Lord of the Rings.
