Carta 128a

Summary

In a letter to Hugh Brogan, Tolkien discusses the uncertain status of The Lord of the Rings publication, which he had hoped to release within the year. Negotiations are ongoing, and Tolkien mentions the challenges in producing readable copies due to the high cost of professional typing. He completed much of the typing himself and has a second, personal copy for safety.

Additionally, Tolkien notes the imminent release of a new edition of The Hobbit, featuring necessary emendations and a rewritten section to better align with its sequel.
