Summary
Ace Books had written to Unwin with a proposal for an annual Tolkien Award funded by royalties if Tolkien could not accept royalties from another publisher. Tolkien indicated he had not interest in the establishment of the award. He also commented that Ace Books seemed very interested in altering their reputation in the science fiction community. He quipped about a pirate asking a skipper to house poor sailors with the pirate's loot.
