Background
Christopher had been home on leave during the Christmas holiday period but had had to return on New Year's Day.
Summary
Tolkien expresses his joy at receiving communication from Christopher and sends blessings. He reflects on missing Christopher since January 1st and regrets not spending more time together. Tolkien updates Christopher on meeting with C.S. Lewis, Charles Williams, and Warren "Warnie" Lewis, and shares his thoughts on C.S. Lewis's third novel. He promises a more detailed letter later, as he is currently occupied with many tasks, and asks Christopher to pray for him.
