Journey in the Woods

Journey in the Woods is a Dutch fan film created by children. Billed as a fourth part to Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, the film premiered on 8 December 2007. The small premiere at the arthouse theater of Hilversum was covered on Dutch television.

The plot of the movie is unknown, but clips indicate that the characters sailed to Tolfalas and that there was a prince who fell under a spell.

Production

The film was conceived after one of the creators received a camera, while another was very passionate about the Peter Jackson movies. Marius wrote the script entirely by himself, and they used a map of Middle-earth to plan out a realistic travel route for the narrative and figure out how to transition between scenes logically.

The total budget of the movie was approximately €200. More than 15 children participated in the project, receiving minor assistance from their parents. Due to a shortage of actors, several cast members had to play multiple roles.

According to the creators, the most difficult part of production was a large fight scene, which had to be re-shot around 20 times due to choreography issues and roughhousing.
