Galweg
Galweg was a Gnome, one of the Rodothlim, according to the early version of the legendarium in The Book of Lost Tales.
History
Galweg was the father of Failivrin, who fell in love with Túrin when he and his friend Flinding lived in the caverns of the Rodothlim, ruled by Orodreth. He was fond of Túrin, and they often aided one another.
Galweg was killed during Melko's attack on the Rodothlim. His dwelling was later occupied by Mîm the Dwarf, who was in turn further slain by Úrin, Túrin's father.
Etymology
While Galweg is not directly glossed, in Gnomish gal means "shine (golden, as the Sun)" and "weg" is a masculine suffix.
Other versions of the legendarium
In The Lay of the Children of Húrin, written not long after The Book of Lost Tales, Failivrin's father became Orodreth, and the character of Galweg had disappeared entirely.
