Angus McBride
Artist for Middle-earth Role Playing and Collectible Card Game
Angus McBride (11 May 1931 - 15 May 2007) was a Scottish artist who was already well-established as a military and historical illustrator before working on fantasy art. He mostly worked in gouache, although some of his paintings are in oil.
Fellow Middle-earth artist Angelo Montanini consider McBride to be the reason he started doing fantasy art.
Career
After a long career illustrating for educational magazines and booklets, he eventually became a main artist for military history publisher Osprey, working on over 90 books between 1976 and the early 2000s. For fantasy gaming art, he worked exclusively for Iron Crown Enterprises in the 1980s and 1990s, who commissioned him to create covers for Middle-earth Role Playing and card art for the MECCG.
