Mary Incledon

Frieda Mary Incledon (1895-1940) was a cousin of J.R.R. Tolkien. Her mother Edith Mary ('May') Incledon (née Suffield) was an older sister of Mabel Tolkien. Her sister was Marjorie Incledon.

Mary and her sister Marjorie invented the Animalic language and taught some of it to Tolkien. She also created the Nevbosh language with Tolkien.

Later on, Mary Incledon became godmother to John Tolkien. She lived alone in London after having converted to Roman Catholicism. She died of cancer in 1940 at the age of 45.
