Borlas

Borlas of Pen-arduin was the youngest son of Beregond. He is the central character of The New Shadow.

Etymology

Borlas is Sindarin and means perhaps "enduring joy", from Bór + glass.

Other versions of the legendarium

In early versions of the legendarium, Borlas was the name (later changed to Borlad) of a son of Bór.

Since the events of The New Shadow is described taking place during the reign of Eldarion and after the death of Elessar, this dating contradicts to the second edition of The Lord of the Rings, where in Appendix B the date of Aragorn's death was ultimately changed by J.R.R. Tolkien from Fourth Age 100 to Fourth Age 120.
