Lofar

Lofar was a Dwarf in early drafts of The Fellowship of the Ring. He was one of the Dwarves that stayed at Bag End after Bilbo Baggins' birthday party.

History

In the early writings of the chapter "A Long-expected Party", Lofar was instructed by Bilbo to give the Ring to Frodo Baggins (at that point called "Bingo"). Lofar is not named in the published version of The Fellowship of the Ring however he may be one of three Dwarves that sets out with Bilbo for Rivendell.

Etymology

Lofarr is a dwarf from the Dvergatal. It can mean either "Stooper" or "Praiser".
